Why This Website:
Integrating technology into the classroom has become one of my greatest passions as a professional educator. Every day, I use technology to motivate students to higher academic achievement. This is usually accomplished by some engaging lesson or activity - and typically involves some piece of technology. I'm always learning best practices from like-minded educators from around the Internet. I review products from hardware to software; cover news as it relates to educational technology; and post downloadable content, including interactive whiteboard lessons and activities. I hope you find something useful here, and that you'll come back to visit often. Feel free to respond to a discussion thread or comment on a blog entry.
My Vision for the 21st Century Classroom
Technology is huge with me. I see interactive whiteboards in every classroom. Document cameras have replaced the overhead transparencies. Instead of “thumbs up/thumbs down” to check for understanding, students are interacting with their teacher using a student responder, i.e. clicker, to communicate his or her own responses. I envision students coming to school with an e-reader that has replaced their 30+ pound backpacks (similar to the Kindle, but in full color), having access to an entire digital library of books – ranging in breadth of content from their district-adopted text books to full color picture books for children. Students are engaged in learning, from Kindergarten to grade 12 in a very hands-on environment.
Personal
I enjoy spending time with my family, riding motor cycles, playing basketball, filming and editing weddings and events for my videography company, ActionTouch Media. I'm a Christ follower, husband, father of two, drummer and guitarist.
